When planning your family bathroom there are many factors to consider.

When looking at bathroom furniture great options are wall hung fittings, a great advantage to these are that they are easier to clean around, but provide a portable step that will help small children reach the WC and basin.  Incorporating as much storage as you can in a small bathroom is obviously key to a family-friendly design. Vanity units can be built under basins in place of a pedestal, another advantage of this is that all the pipework is hidden.

If you have a small bathroom, you should consider your choice of colour carefully, as this is will have a big impact upon the perception of space in your room. The natural light available for a smaller bathroom is possibly going to be limited, so steps will have to be taken to give the impression that the room is bright and roomy. If you use lighter tones and colours for tiles or paintwork it will give the appearance of space.
