Create A Stunning Shower Room

A shower room is often used as a second bathroom or is sometimes squeezed into an awkward shaped room. Shower rooms can be difficult to get right as there is no bath to act as a focal point. If you are making the shower the main feature in the room make it as stylish and luxurious as you can by using a large, spacious shower enclosure and a large drench style shower head. If you want to open up the space more you could opt for a wet room, this way you won’t feel confined when you are showering and it will also make the room look bigger.

Installing a wet room is much more complex and expensive than installing a standard shower, but once it is installed it will be simple to keep clean and maintain. With a full wet room the water drains directly through the floor, this requires the entire room to be tanked to stop any water leaking through the walls or floorboards. The wet room floor needs to be raised and sloped in the direction of where the water drains. Using a frameless glass panel in a wetroom will prevent towels and anything else getting covered in water, but will still create that open plan look.

An alternative option to the wet room is to opt for a frameless glass panel with a slimline shower tray installed at the same level as the floor to stop the room getting covered in water. A walk-in shower enclosure will create a look similar to a wet room but without all the extra hassle.

Using a large, modern towel warmer within reach of the shower enclosure will add a stylish finishing touch. Also the use of double basins will help create a stunning look in the shower room, you could use basins that are joined together if space is tight, combined with monobloc basin taps this will create a feature in the shower room. You could also try a wall hung basin and a wall hung toilet to make the room feel bigger and it will make cleaning easier also.  The use of stylish accessories will add finishing touches to the shower room, for example a bathroom mirror with a shelf will give you a bit of storage space. The use of glass shelving will create an uncluttered look, and again is handy for storage.
