Whether you’re renovating your home, thinking of painting your bathroom or simply want to find some home shopping inspiration, the web has introduced a wealth of resource to influence and inspire the process. As bathroom specialists, we too spend a lot of our free time researching the products and designs that appeal to our customers. It’s with this that we thought we’d give some recognition to what we deemed to be the best interior design blogs of 2009.
1. Lushlee
Previously “Jars of Cute”, Lushlee is written and maintained by Ange, a web & graphic designer from the US. The blog not only picks out some of the most beautiful home décor, but also updates us with beautiful photography, fashions and creative inspiration.
2. Chic Tip
Providing both interior design consultation as well as a free resource for all interior design enthusiasts, Chic Tip boasts an array of design ideas by two interior design professionals, Michelle and Keren. With their varied taste and enthusiasm, there is always something wonderful to explore on Chic Tip – they always have us coming back for more! Their Big Bathroom Shop bonus point: the article about the lego-inspired kitchen counter. I want one!
3. Furniture Fashion
Furniture Fashion provides ultra modern inspiration for interior design. Not only are all the products featured in the blog aesthetically appealing, but they often make it a point to feature both eco-friendly and space saving products for practical use around the home. Thank you to Will, John and co. for this very cool interior design blog!
4. DigsDigs
DigsDigs has the ‘themed blog posts’ thing down to a T – whether based on a specific type of design, a colour, room or product, you’ll be able to find a few posts on it here. The blog also caters to a variety of interior design tastes, from neoclassic to ultramodern.
5. Design Milk
Dedicated to modern interior design, fashion, art and technology, Design Milk is more of an online lifestyle magazine than a blog, but a wonderful one at that. They also know how to keep their readers engaged by offering a truly creative column every day. Examples include “The Beat Boxed” offers a look at music incorporated into interior design and “Friday Five”, written by designers, artists or shop owners on their five favourite things.
6. Freshome
Romanian founder of Freshome, Michael, has a keen eye for design. He started the blog to incorporate all the things he wanted from his future home and now it’s become a collection of inspiration from a team of 5 writers, spread across the world. From colourful kitchens to cat-bed coffee tables, Freshome will help to make your home your own.
7. Trendir
Contemporary design is evolving quickly, so what better way to keep up to date with the latest designs than with a blog like Trendir, dedicated to just that. Pushing the boundaries of design and technology, these products will help to create unique centrepieces for all the rooms in your home.
8. House Automater
We all love gadgets. Gadgets to make cleaning easier in the house or gadgets that make our guest say ‘oooohhh’ are always welcomed at Big Bathroom Shop HQ. So thank you to Lillian Pikus, the creator of both House Automator and aforementioned Trendir, for feeding us with the latest and greatest advancements in interior design.
9. Coco Cozy
Coco has a really keen eye for home décor. She does wonderful features like ‘cheap to chic’ and did also did a ‘bath week’. She also encourages her readers to send in their before/after photos to feature on her blog (BBS customers – why not send her some of your bathroom transformations?).
10. Material Girls
5 American interior design professionals, the Material Girls have teamed up from across the country to share their expertise with the world. We love the insight they give into their current projects and the fact that they have a weekly email newsletter. Ladies, as full time designers, we applaud your dedication to your blogging hobbies!
