Big Bathroom Shop is pleased to announce that they will be sponsoring the Yakovlevs Aerobatic Team during the 2009 airshow display season. The Yakovlev aircraft will be sporting a new paint scheme and this new partnership will be celebrated with some great new moves in the sky, and some great online bathroom deals.

The Yakovlevs are the only professional aerobatic team in the UK that use the powerful, nostalgic Russian Yakovlev (Yak) aircraft. The Yakovelev team has performed for millions of spectators, and they display at all the major airshows in the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands.

“This is already promising to be a great season,” said Jez Hopkinson, The Yakovlev’s Team Leader. “We have been displaying for ten years now, and are looking forward to another great season of airshows. This exciting new partnership with Big Bathroom Shop ensures that we can continue to make our display as exciting and innovative as possible.”

Bathrooms – How to avoid limescale deposits

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

You should clean all bathroom products regularly to prevent the build up of limescale or other soluble salts. In some cases, however you may find that limescale will still build up and this will occasionally need to be removed.

Remove limescale with lemon juice

Limescale can be removed using a mild solution of lemon juice as it contains citric acid, which will help dissolve the salts that cause the limescale deposits.

Bathroom Suites – Helpful Hints on Cleaning

Steel Baths

Steel baths should be cleaned with a mild detergent solution or even just soapy water. After cleaning with soapy water or detergent they should be rinsed and polished with a soft cloth. Bleach and household chemicals can damage the gloss enamel surface of a steel bath; they should only ever be used when diluted.

Acrylic Baths and Shower Trays

Acrylic baths can be cleaned with a mild detergent solution or even just soapy water. You should try to rinse the bath with clean water after you have used it, it can then be polished with a soft cloth. Acrylic is a softer material than glazed bathroom pottery so abrasive cleaners will scratch the surface, taking the shine off. Chemicals such as clothing dyes, hair dyes, and nail varnish remover will all damage acrylic baths.

Resin Stone Shower Trays

The surface of stone shower tray should be cleaned with warm soapy water or mild detergent. It is preferable if you rinse the shower tray with clean water immediately after use, and then to polish it with a soft cloth.

Toilets and Basins

You should clean bathroom pottery after each use, with a mild detergent solution or even just soapy water. After washing in soapy water, you should rinse it and polish it with a soft cloth, or towel. Cleaning the pottery in this way will help stop any limescale deposits and should stop the pottery becoming stained. Harsh bathroom cleaners can damage pottery surface glazing and other bathroom. We would advise you not to leave strong cleaners or bleach on bathroom pottery overnight as this can damage the glazing.

Toilet Seats

Toilet seats should be cleaned regularly with a mild detergent solution or soapy water. Strong cleaning agents or scouring pads will damage the toilet seat.

Quadrant Shower Enclosures

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Quadrant Shower Enclosures are an extremely flexible showering solution for most bathrooms. Their shape means that you can fit one into the corner of a bathroom, using a minimum of space. Quadrant Enclosures (or cubicles) are available in a variety of styles and sizes, from the very compact 800mm standard quadrant, to the luxurious 1250mm Offset quadrant, which also includes useful shelves and an area for drying.

Currently the best selling size of quadrant enclosure is the 900mm x 900mm The Milano bathrooms version is especially popular as it is very high quality at a very reasonable price. This quadrant features 6mm toughened safety glass, which conforms to B.S. 2606A and a polished silver coloured frame. The doors can be unclipped from the bottom of the frame to allow for easier cleaning access. Overall it offers fantastic value for money.

Steel Baths

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Steel baths are a popular alternative to acrylic baths and both have their pros and cons. Steel baths can give the impression of being more stable as the base material is obviously more rigid than acrylic. Acrylic baths however will give many, many years of trouble free use provided that they are purchased from a reputable retailer and they are installed correctly.

Steel baths are available in a variety of styles and sizes, and can be supplied with or without grips. Sizes of steel baths include 1600x700mm, 1700x700mm and various sizes upto and including the larger size of 1800x800mm. (more…)

Bathroom Suites with Furniture

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Bathroom Suites with Furniture are becoming increasingly popular, with some sources quoting that over 50% of all bathroom suites sold have some element of furniture included. Furniture trends have developed over the past few years to a more ‘modular’ style, this means that far more bathrooms can now have a furniture unit fitted as part of a  bathroom re-refurbishment.
