The Alcona bathroom suite from Twyford Bathrooms is the second Twyford suite to receive the much coveted Waterwise Marque for water efficiency.
The Waterwise Marque is the first scheme in the UK that highlights water efficient products. It is awarded each year to products that reduce water wastage or raise the awareness of water efficiency. Very few of the prestigious Marques have been awarded this year. This is the second Waterwise Marque that Twyford Bathrooms have received , the the first being for the Galerie Flushwise Toilet in 2007.
Whilst presenting the award to Twyford bathrooms, Jacob Tompkins the Director of Waterwise, announced. “Waterwise is pleased to award The Alcona Toilet with the prestigious Waterwise Marque. The Alcona Suite with its Flushwise (patent pending) technology provides a well priced bathroom suite that is supplied with with a dual flush 4 and 2.6 litre flushing mechanism.
Toilets are one of the heaviest users of water in a house, with 45 million domestic toilets in the UK, they flush approximately 2 billion litres of water per day. Because bathrooms are only replaced every 10 years or so, an estimated 40 million toilets in UK households flush excessive amounts of water, of between 13 and 7.5 litres per flush.

The Twyford Flushwise products, including Alcona are the only toilets that conform to the standard EN 997 Class 2, are sure to clear the toilet properly on every flush, and are legal to install in the UK.
The Flushwise technology used in the Alcona collection flushes at 4 or 2.6 litres and unlike other low flush toilets the Alcona retains the power behind the flush, reducing the water required by up to 66%. In the unlikely event that there are any flushing problems, water volumes can be increased after the product is fitted, with no need for any re-plumbing.
