Hello and welcome to my first guest post with the BigBathroomShop.co.uk! I’m Jen from Love Chic Living, a contemporary home interiors blog focusing on decor, accessories and top tips for a family home.
Today I’m looking at the Bathroom Trends emerging for the Spring and Summer 2013 and how you can incorporate them into your own home. Bathrooms, once just a place of functionality and practicality, are now viewed as spaces for pampering where we spend as much time on the decor as any other room in the house. It’s also well known that updating your existing bathroom or adding an ensuite or extra bathroom is a great way to add value to your home.
So what’s hot when it comes to revamping your bathroom?
1. Modern and Monochrome
One of look that never seems to date is the monochrome colour scheme. Don’t worry if you think this means dull and boring, it doesn’t have to be. It can be a sleek, sophisticated look probably suited to the more modern home. Think about playing around with the tile patterns, adding geometric patterned towels and even including this gorgeous Phoenix Assai Freestanding bath with black surround. Keep the lines clean and simple, and give your bathroom the wow factor.
2. Colour Pop
Fashion trends often work their way into our home interiors and decor, and the trend for flashes or ‘pops’ of bright colour is no exception. Whatever your style, be it modern, country or traditional you can work this idea into your scheme. This wall of statement stripes opposite the gorgeous Laufen II Bagno Alessi freestanding bath is one way to incorporate bright colours into an otherwise white bathroom but if this is a bit bold for you, think about updating your accessories to inject some vibrancy of colour into the room. Fresh colourful towels, a few bright tiles, or simply some fabulous new soaps and toiletries can all add the colour that’s required.
3. Luxury Spa Escape
More and more we are looking to our bathrooms to provide us with a room that’s sumptuous and luxurious, enabling us to escape the stresses and strains of modern life. Bathrooms can now emulate the spa breaks we are sometimes lucky enough to experience, with glorious spa baths, expensive accessories and indulgent fittings and fixtures. Lots of thick fluffy white towels, quality toiletries and opulent accessories like this amazing chandelier will help compliment the luxury of a suite such as the Laufen II Bagno Alessi.
3. Rough Luxe
Finally, bathrooms are becoming more and more eco friendly with a return to natural, organic materials and finishes. The Rough Luxe or Salvage look is popular in lots of rooms across the home and is now creeping into the bathroom. Think reclaimed wood, exposed brick, lots of texture in tiling and flooring as well as natural colours. This smooth ceramic of the Laufen Form freestanding bath suite looks amazing set against the rough textured bricks, with the dark wood floor adding even more contrast. Don’t dismiss this look; it’s definitely here to stay for some time to come!
